New settlers are living in the Wadi Saleh area, south of Zalingei, on land claimed by conflict-displaced people. The influx of dozens of Arab settlers who are heavily armed is causing insecurity in the area, according to the community leader of Tireij village.

Citizens of Tireij called for the immediate departure of settlers from the region and their return to their places from which they came.
