AZUM –

The director of Azum locality in Central Darfur, El Hafiz Mohamedein, states that the area of Azum experienced a significant decrease in unrest following Tuesday’s killing of four police officers in an ambush by an armed gang.

In an interview with Radio Dabanga on Thursday, Mohamedein said that Saad Babikir, the acting governor of Central Darfur, aims to restore the State of Emergency.

According to Mohamedein, security forces have commenced a manhunt for the culprits, and the governor vowed that “the forces would not return before they apprehend them”.

The wali also announced the deployment of a large contingent of joint forces to track down the perpetrators, as well as the provision of “six combat vehicles to support the local forces”.

Native administration leader Omda Mohamed Janga expressed his disappointment with the “precarious security situation” in Central Darfur, citing the “numerous robberies people encounter in various localities”.
