Armed bandits kill six policemen on Nyala-Marshang road, South Darfur

Six policemen have been killed and five wounded in three cases of banditry, allegedly by pro-government militiamen, on the road between South Darfur capital Nyala and Marshang locality. Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that a convoy of seven buses carrying passengers was ambushed by armed militiamen near Umm Sabag, leaving two policemen dead and two more injured. Four of the buses reportedly managed to escape and return to Nyala. Three of the buses were pillaged by the gunmen who also beat and robbed the passengers. In a separate incident on the same road, militiamen stole two vehicles that were being transported by tractor, and then fled. On Sunday policemen on patrol to protect commercial traffic on the road came under fire in an ambush by gunmen.
