Zalingei students arrested, expelled in Central Darfur

On Tuesday the security services arrested three students of Zalingei University in Darfur. The university administration expelled 19 students on charges of affiliation to the United Popular Front of Abdul Wahid.

On Tuesday the security services arrested three students of Zalingei University in Central Darfur. The university administration expelled 19 students on charges of affiliation to the United Popular Front of Abdel Wahid El Nur.

A student told Radio Dabanga that on Tuesday, agents of the security forces arrested three students at the university gate. They initially took them to the headquarters of the university guards and then to an unknown destination.

A number of students recounted that they were surprised on Monday by the presence at the university gate of a force of security services, the police and student followers of the National Congress Party. The force denied them access to the university on the pretext that they were dismissed by the university administration for a year on charges of affiliation to the United Popular Front of Abdul Wahid faction. Several of the dismissed students stressed that they are no involved in any political activity.

The students expelled are: Karam El Din Adam Ahmed, Mehdi Haroun Adam, Mohammed Siddig Abakar Norein, El Rasheed Mohamed Adam Ismail, El Zubair Abdel Hakam Adam, Ahmed Abdullatif Abulkabeer, Adam Mohammed Abakar, Direig Mohamed Ahmed, Muddessir Abakar Ateem, Nasser Dood Abdul Rasoul, Abubakar Ahmed Mohammed, Fatima Najm Eldin Abdullah, Abdul Salam Abdullah Mohammed, El Hafiz Adam Omar, Tariq Yagoub Ishag, El Fadil Omar Abdullah, Namarig Abdulrahman Ahmed Taher, Mecca Mohammad Haroun Khater and Omar Haroun Mohammed.
