Students beaten in Sudan University clash

At least eight students were injured in clashes that erupted following a student conference at Sudan University in Khartoum on Tuesday.

At least eight students were injured in clashes that erupted following a student conference at Sudan University in Khartoum on Tuesday.

Batons, Molotov cocktails and machetes were reported used to break-up a conferenced organised as a speech platform for students of Darfur. It was their intention to hand a memorandum to the university administration regarding the exception from fees of Darfuri students.

Many graduate students are unable to further their studies owing to a lack of money for tuition fees.

Among the wounded students is the Chairman of the Darfur Students Association,Arrabei  Abdel Moneim, the media secretary of the Association Alsadig Sumein, Makki Ali Haroun, Kamal Zein, and El Najib Suleiman.

Sudan’s National Umma Party announced on Tuesday, security forces harassed and beat two of its students senseless at the University of Sinnar.

Abdelsami Hassan Sheikh Abdelrahman and Munther Daw were both beaten until they were unconscious. It was announced in a statement by the Party, which pledged full solidarity with the issues surrounding students of Darfur.
