Two farmers abducted in East Jebel Marra, Darfur

“A group of Janjaweed on camels seized Abdelmajeed Ahmed Salem and Siddig Hamed Ishag when they were tending their farmland in the area of Dubo El Omda. They left with them in the direction of El Malam,” a relative of Salem reported to Radio Dabanga.

Gunmen kidnapped two farmers near Dubo El Omda on Monday.

He said that the farmers were abducted on the pretext that had stolen 10 camels. “The gunmen accused Salem and Ishag of the theft, after they had found traces of their stolen camels near their farmland.”

The kidnappers demanded the return of the 10 camels, or a compensation payment, in a message sent to the farmers’ families.
