All parties view it as a step towards fulfilling unification of opposition forcesThe Revolutionary Liberation Forces (RLF) and the Sudan Liberation Front (SLF), two armed opposition groups in Darfur, announced their merger with the Sudan Liberation Army-Minni Minnawi (SLA-MM) on Sunday.The RLF, that used to be led by late Ibrahim al-Zubaidi, is now headed Mussa Jaden, whereas Abu Bakr Kadu leads the SLF.Minni Minni Arko Minnawi, the head of the SLA-MM, welcomed the move of accession and said it was a step towards forming a framework for the unification of all resistance forces in Darfur.Mussa Jaden, leader of RLF, also viewed the move as a step towards unification of the resistance forces under one political and military leader.Mussa Jaden also called for all marginalized forces in Sudan to unite in order to form a broad front that would “bring down the regime in Khartoum”.Meanwhile, Abu Bakr Kadu, who heads the SLF, told Radio Dabanga the move was meant to be a fundamental step towards the unification policy that aimed at overthrowing the regime.
