Sudan security questions journalist about article on brothels

The National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) has questioned a journalist of El Tayar daily newspaper about an article she wrote about prostitution in Khartoum. On Friday, El Tayar had published an article, entitled “Lust Market”, written by Asma Mikail Istanbul about prostitution in family homes in upper-class districts in Sudan’s capital. She was promptly summoned to appear at the security office in Khartoum Two district on Saturday. The Journalists Association for Human Rights (JAHR) informed Radio Dabanga that Istanbul was questioned for three hours. The security officers wanted to know who had tasked her with the investigation, how she had acquired the information, and demanded from her to disclose her sources.
