Sudan security harass West Kordofan traders
The imposition by the West Kordofan authorities of a security permit for the transport of goods within the state in December last year, has led to harassment of traders, and the confiscation of a large number of lorries.
A lorry owner told Dabanga that security troops in the state “continuously chase goods vehicles, and harass the owners and drivers” in the state. “Many lorries have been confiscated in December and this month.”

A lorry owner told Dabanga that security troops in the state “continuously chase goods vehicles, and harass the owners and drivers” in the state. “Many lorries have been confiscated in December and this month.”
He reported that at El Meram on Monday, security forces opened fire on a vehicle transporting sorghum to a nearby market and destroyed the load.
“The owner, Daoud El Deweid, was detained. On the same day, another lorry transporting foodstuffs was confiscated. The owner was immediately tried, and sentenced to a fine of SDG1,500 ($250) and two months imprisonment.”
The trader urged the West Kordofan authorities to put an end to the abuses by the security forces, and reconsider the measure.
