‘Sudan recruits in Al Muglad’, Misseriya leaders call people to reject

The Sudanese government started to alert and mobilise people in Al Muglad as it is planning to intensify the war with South Sudan and recapture Heglig. This is according to sources from Al Muglad reporting to Radio Dabanga. Sudanese army generals reportedly arrived in the city and started to distribute thousands of weapons with ammunition. Sources said the army was also handing out money to recruit people to fight for the control over Heglig. Omar Matar Bashari, a Messeryian leader, called on his people to stay away from the governmental incentives to fight a war and said that ‘young men should not be tempted to join the army in the interests of Khartoum’.   Adam Kharsom Noureddine, another Messeryain leader who is also deputy chair of Sudan People Liberation Movement in the South Kordofan, said Messeryian people will not benefit from fighting a war for Sudan’s ruling National Congress Party. He said that the only people that will profit from a war are high ranked officials in Khartoum. According to Nouredinne, the Messeryian people should choose to be allies with South Sudan: ‘our cattles drink water three-quarters of each year in South Sudan, not in Khartoum’.
