Umma Party calls to stop the war: ‘Sudan’s people and economy are destroyed’

The Sudanese Umma opposition party strongly condemned the ongoing war between Sudan and South Sudan. It called on both countries to start negotiations and to immediately end violent clashes in the border region. Member of the party, Fadlallah Burma Nassir, said the war has now been going on for 50 years and Sudan has not gained anything from the decades of violence and unrest: ‘Sudan’s people and economy are destroyed’. Nassir also requested all other international parties ‘who are concerned in the country’s interest’ to put efforts in getting Sudan and South Sudan back to negotiate ‘alternatives to war’.
