Strict new rules for foreign organisations in South Darfur

The Humanitarian Aid Commissioner in South Darfur, Jamal Yusif, has announced that the permission for any foreign organisation to operate in the state requires a partnership with a Sudanese organisation. In a press statement on Sunday, the Commissioner said that foreign organisations are only permitted to implement projects and programmes in partnership with a national organisation. He instructed “all foreign organisations to operate in accordance with the state road map for the current year”. Furthermore, he stressed that the 2014 registration of any of the 121 national organisations working in the state will not be accepted unless the General Assembly has officially determined and recorded the sources of funds and the terms of disbursement. He added that the organisations violating the regulations would be deleted from the South Darfur official records.
