SRF claims defeating government forces

The Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) announced defeating government forces and militias in Fanga area, East Jebel Marra, on Thursday September 6. SRF claims to have seized control over El-Aradib El-Ashara area.SLM-Abdul WahidMustafa Tambour, military spokesperson for SLM-Abdul Wahid, said SRF (consisting of SLM-Abdul Wahid, SLM-Minnawi and JEM) defeated government forces in Fanga area. In addition, he said the troops killed the leader of the mobile brigade, two colonels, three lieutenants, 58 soldiers and injured dozens of other soldiers. Tambour stated that government forces attacked the area of Fanga, using 150 Land Cruiser vehicles loaded with weapons as well as eight vehicles. He pointed out their troops managed to seize 35 of the Land Cruiser vehicles and four other vehicles. He told Radio Dabanga that only a few of their troops were injured. SLM-MinnawiMeanwhile, Adam Saleh, military spokesperson of SLM-Minnawi, said SRF tightened the siege on government forces and militas in El-Aradib El-Ashara area. Saleh pointed out the government forces were not able to evacuate the injured soldiers. He confirmed to Radio Dabanga that the area is under SRF control. Saleh added that the Sudanese Minister of Defense, Abdel Rahim Mohamed Hussein, visited El-Fasher and wanted to visit Fanga to celebrate, but after his troops’ defeat he returned to Khartoum instead.Sudanese ArmyCol.
