Three displaced children drowned

In the city of El-Fasher, four displaced people drowned, among them three children, in Abushok and Abuja camps. A camp representative from Abushok told Radio Dabanga that in Abuja camp 2 children drowned on Wednesday September 5. In addition, another child and a teenager drowned in Abushok camp on Thursday. The representative explained that all of the victims drowned in excavations (about 6 meters deep). He pointed out that these excavations are a threat to the lives of the displaced, in addition to being excellent breeding grounds for mosquitoes and flies. He appealed to the health authorities to spray the excavations after the end of the autumn season.On another note, three people were seriously injured in Tawila, North Darfur, after they were attacked by unidentified gunmen. A witness told Radio Dabanga that three armed men attacked a group of people in ‘darra’ (a dinner location). The gunmen beat the people with their rifles and whips.The attack resulted in three seriously injured people and were taken to Tawila hospital for treatment, the witness added to Radio Dabanga.
