Pro-government militia attack leaves 13 dead in Sigili

A pro-government militia killed 13 people, including a high-school student, and injured another six in a village near El-Fasher, North Darfur, on Friday, 2 November, a relative of a fatal victim told Radio Dabanga. According to the source, the attack took place in the village of Sigili in Shawa area, located about 30 kilometers southeast of El-Fasher. He added that another five people were kidnapped during the incident and that more than 10 are missing. The witness said the perpetrators were coming from Abodelek area in Kelmendo locality and were led by Omar Hamed. He also pointed out that some of them were driving four vehicles equipped with Dushkas, while another 29 were riding camels.   The source recounted that the militia, coming from four different directions, surrounded the village at 8am on Friday, before they opened fire.   Besides killing, injuring and kidnapping local citizens, the pro-government militia also reportedly looted homes, shops, cattle and citizens and burned down the village, Radio Dabanga was informed.The witness told Radio Dabanga that authorities from El Fasher, the governor of North Darfur and the security services were informed about the incident by relatives of the victims, but they did not try chasing the perpetrators. Lastly, they said the authorities did not allow the relatives of the victims to help the injured and to remove the bodies from the crime scene.  VictimsAccording to witnesses, 12 of the fatal victims are: the high school student Hassan Tahir Sigili, Ibrahim Ahmed Idris, Omar Isaac Idris, Mohamed Ahmed Adam, Ahmed Omar Suleiman, Ahmed Mandy Isa, Ibrahim Ali, Abd al-Rahim Ahmed Mohamed Moussa, Omar Ahmed Adam, Abd al-Rahman Mohammed Juma Mandy, Abd al-Rahman Bakheet Issa and Ibrahim Ahmed Idris. Besides, the abductees are: Mandy Idris Mohamed, Mukhtar Aaron Suleiman, Ibrahim Omar Adam, Abd al-Bagi Adam Haroun and Zakaria Ahmed Omar, witnesses told Radio Dabanga.
