Police wounds 12 at Khartoum hospital sit-in

A demonstration carried out by the unions of health and medical professions at the Khartoum Teaching Hospital was violently dispersed by the police on Thursday. About 12 of the demonstrators at the sit-in were injured. Dr Ahmed El Sheikh, a union member, told Radio Dabanga that police forces raided the Khartoum hospital and used batons and tear gas to disperse the sit-in. It was aimed against the Ministry of Health’s decision to evacuate the dialysis section in the hospital. The doctor added that “vigils will continue until the Ministry of Health amends the plan, aimed at drying up the hospital and displacing its employees”.
