North Darfur tobacco traders deny using carcinogens in processing

The Union of Tobacco Traders in North Darfur has denied and denounced reports being circulated regarding harmful substances and carcinogens used in the tobacco processing industry.

In a statement, the Union said that studies conducted by the Tobacco Research Centre in Khartoum, as well as other research conducted in Bergen and Washington, demonstrated that Sudanese Tobacco is free of such harmful substances.

The statement highlighted that 60 percent of the residents of North Darfur working in the tobacco trade.
