North Darfur police in shootout with robbers

A gunfight erupted between policemen and armed robbers in Kabkabiya, North Darfur on Thursday evening. Nobody was injured.
At around 9 pm, a gang of robbers attempted to plunder a number of shops at Kabkabiya market, a listener told Radio Dabanga.
“They fired at the locks, after which the police intervened. This resulted in a shoot-out that lasted until midnight, after which the attackers fled” he said. “As far as we know, there were no casualties.”
He added: “The people living in the neighbourhood were terrified. We have complained to the North Darfur authorities several times about the trade in weapons, ammunition, and drugs at the market, to no avail.”
