North Darfur militia occupying Ministry to protest housing plan

On Wednesday morning, a group of paramilitary Border Guards occupied the Ministry of Urban Planning in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.
The paramilitaries arrived at the Ministry in heavily armed four-wheel drive vehicles, a witness said.
He told Radio Dabanga that he was just visiting the Ministry when the militiamen entered the building. “They ordered the staff of the Ministry and the visitors to leave the building immediately.
“The militiamen protested the new housing plan,” he explained. “They demanded residential plots within El Fasher.
“A delegation of North Darfur MPs intervened and managed to contain the situation. The Border Guards left the Ministry in peace, after which army soldiers and policemen took control of the building.”
