Murder, shooting, hijack in Darfur

On Sunday, the first day of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, a citizen was shot dead in Wadi Salih locality, Central Darfur. On Monday, three passengers of a commercial vehicle were injured in an ambush in Central Darfur, and two displaced were shot in South Darfur. “Government-backed militiamen opened fire on Omar Jarad Adam, when he was collecting firewood east of Garsila town on Sunday. He died instantly”, a neighbour of the victim reported to Radio Dabanga. On Monday morning, two displaced inhabitants of Kass were wounded in the area of Kambi in South Darfur. The victims were on their way from Kass to Burunga on their motorcycles, when gunmen fired at them, a listener from Kass reported to Radio Dabanga. Rashid Adam was unharmed, but Seifeldin Adam Yahya sustained injuries in his leg, and had to be transferred to a hospital. The attack was reported to the police in Kass, but no action was taken. On the same morning, a commercial vehicle was hijacked at Jebel Kunjo, east of Zalingei, the capital of Central Darfur. “Government-backed militiamen wearing military uniforms opened fire at the vehicle about 8am on Monday”, one of the passengers told Radio Dabanga. “Three people were seriously injured.” “The gunmen took the vehicle, and left. About 15 passengers had fled in all directions.
