Medicine heist from North Darfur hospital, pharmacy

A group of militiamen stole medicines from the Birkat Seira Hospital and a pharmacy in North Darfur on Sunday morning.
“Five militiamen riding motorcycles stormed the hospital at 3 am,” a listener reported to Radio Dabanga. “They stole all the medicines, and took other items as well on their way out.”
He said that the same group also plundered a commercial pharmacy at the Saraf Omra Market later that day. “The owner of the pharmacy, Anwar Mousa Mukhtar, estimated the loss at about SDG16,000 ($2,610).

“The attackers fired shots into the air before leaving Birkat Seira, which caused terror and fear among the people.”

He added that there are no police and security agents in the area of Birkat Seira, “despite our repeated demands to the authorities”.
