International Community wants SRF in Sudan negotiations
(Revised by editor 21 Aug.) - An international committee of the USA, EU, UK, Canada and France have finished a three-day meeting about Sudan in Geneva to discuss democracy, peace, governance and how to address the root causes of the conflicts in the country. A participant told Radio Dabanga that it will be important towards peace, stability and democracy in Sudan to include the SRF in the negotiations. Diplomatic sources state that it does not mean a formal recognition of the SRF.
Last Sunday Mohamed Mansour Al-Mahdi, Political Secretary of the National Congress Party (NCP) of Khartoum, announced during a press conference that the NCP intends to start negotiating with the SPLM North (SPLM-N). This issue is being discussed by representatives of the NCP on the national level. The spokesman of the SRF Abu Al-Qasim Al-Hajj says that these negotiations should include the entire SRF, and they will reject any compromise reached without their inclusion. He added that he supports the demonstrations in Khartoum and calls for change of the regime.
