In-fighting kills Abbala militia commander in Central Darfur

A militia commander, a junior officer, and two other militiamen have been killed and several wounded in a reported “internal clash” between Abbala militias in Nertiti locality in Central Darfur on Thursday. Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that Commander Yusuf Al Tahir, First Lieutenant Ahmed and two others died in a clash between an Abbala group led by Tahir, and a separate Abbala group, between Nertiti city and Thur. The witnesses said that after the engagement, the wounded were taken to a hospital in Nyala to receive treatment. In a separate incident in Wadi Salih locality, two policemen died on Thursday when a convoy transporting food, goods and the police payroll was attacked by militants between Garsila and Deleig. A local witness told Radio Dabanga that police officers Abbas Ali and Juma Habani died at the scene.
