Gunmen loot vehicles between El Fasher and Tawila and abduct (5) staff from El Fasher

An armed group looted six (6) commercial vehicles who were on their way from El Fasher to the Tawila locality in North Darfur. A witness told radio Dabanga that the armed group, believed to be loyal to the government in Khartoum, beat the passengers before looting their personal belongings including over a thousand pounds. Among the victims where Abdel Razek Abdel Rahman Hussein (Director of Education of the Tawila locality and Treasurer for the Teachers’ Union in North Darfur) Adam Zakaria Ibrahim Safi (Director of SIKR) and Ahmed Adam Isahaq Hsabo (member of SIKR).

Five (5) staff members of the Tawila locality in North Darfur were abudcted by a group of armed men on Friday. They were in land cruisers moving from Tabet to El Fasher and have been taken to an unknown destination. On Tuesday they have still not been released.

A witness told Radio Dabanga that the employees were kidnapped on Friday after after collecting alms at the Tabet market. He added that the abducted staffmembers consisted of Aziz Mohammed Ahmed (Executive Director of Tawila), Mohammed Hafez, Abdul Jabbar Mohammed Abdul Rahman (administrative officers), Bakhur Salah Hassan (Director of Zakat) and Bakhur Salah Hassan (chauffeur).
