East Jebel Marra bombing kills child, animals

A 12-year old boy was herding livestock north of Fanga when an air raid by the Sudanese Air Force killed him. People of the area fled to the nearby mountains.

One child was killed during an aerial bombardment by the Sudanese Air Force north of Fanga in East Jebel Marra on Friday afternoon. Seven camels died.

A relative of the boy reported that a large area of grassland was burned too. “The Antonov aircraft was flying over the area from 2pm until 4.30pm. Then it dropped three bombs that led to the killing of Nabil Ismail Ahmed Omar. He was 12 years old.

“Nabil was tending animals at that time in the area,” the relative said.

The explosions ignited fires in the grasslands. The bombing terrified the population in the northern area of East Jebel Marra, and some people fled for cover to nearby mountains.
