Detainees from Shangil Tobaya moved to Darfur’s Shalla Prison

Security authorities have transferred seven men arrested after fighting in December to a prison in El Fasher, Radio Dabanga has learnt. The men were arrested in Shangil Tobaya during the events there last month. They spent 29 days in the security service’s detention centres in El Fasher and now have been moved to Shalla Prison.

Security authorities have transferred seven men arrested after fighting in December to a prison in El Fasher, Radio Dabanga has learnt. The men were arrested in Shangil Tobaya during the events there last month. They spent 29 days in the security service’s detention centres in El Fasher and now have been moved to Shalla Prison.The detainees are: Yassin Adam Hassan, Mohamed Musa, Babiker Adam Hassan, Adam Harun Deeb, Tarek Mohamed Osman, Abdelmaid Ahmed Sabil and Mohamed Musa Saleh. Radio Dabanga learnt that the detainees have not been charged nor allowed to meet their families or loved ones.

The whereabouts of these men had been hitherto unknown. Large numbers of others were arrested in the region after fighting between the government and the Minni Minawi faction.
