Darfuri student arrested in Omdurman

The security service arrested Darfuri student Ahmed Muhammed Ibrahim from the popular market in Omdurman on Thursday. Witnesses said Ahmed was taught English at thhe Islamic University of Omdurman and studying in his final year. A security unit forcefully detained him at the market beating him severely before taking him to an unknown destination. The witnesses appealed to universities, human rights and civil society organisations to pressure the government to release the student or allow him a fair trial, as well as seeing a lawyer and his family. They appealed to all human rights defenders to defend Darfuri students and activists from government oppression.
