Darfur farmers demand protection against herdsmen

Farmers of Central and West Darfur reiterated their complaints about armed herdsmen grazing camels and cattle on their farmlands by force of arms. Farmers told Radio Dabanga that they are regularly confronted by armed herders, who assault them if they protest against the grazing of livestock on their farmlands. The farmers complain about the herdsmen beating and whipping them as well as threatening to kill them. The farmers urgently appealed to the authorities of the Central and West Darfur states to intervene and protect them so that they will be able to harvest their crops.
