African Development Bank grants $ 4.6m for Darfur projects

The Sudanese Ministry of Finance has signed an agreement with the African Development Bank for a $ 4.6 million grant to mend water facilities and teach local residents how to man the 15 water stations. The agreement between the Bank and Sudan will support the Doha agreement in providing basic services such as drinking water.UNAMID and UN Sudan reaffirm cooperationIn El Fasher yesterday the UN/African Mission in Darfur and the UN Country Team in Sudan met and decided to continue joint cooperation and planning for the implementation of the Doha peace agreement, in supporting the Darfur Regional Authority. The Deputy Joint Special Representative for political affairs, Ms. Aichatou Mindaoudou Souleymane said ‘the strong visible collaboration between the UN Country Team and UNAMID would provide necessary support to the DRA, to make a large difference in the lives of the people of Darfur.’ UN Resident Coordinator/Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, Mr. Ali Hassan Al-Za’tari said ‘the meeting was an important step towards establishing institutional mechanisms and dynamis to enhance the level of the cooperation between the two teams.
