Abulgasim Al Haj denies sinister motive behind his move to Juba

Abulgasim Imam Al Haj, an ex-rebel and former governor of West Darfur, said that his presence in Juba is natural, given that any Sudanese has the right to reside in any city in the country.

The former rebel said the National Congress Party just wants to make accusations against the south’s ruling party, the SPLM, to distract from their failure to implement the Darfur Peace Agreement, which Abulgasim. The government had accused the SPLM of harboring leaders of Darfuri movements in the South, and considered it as a declaration of war by the South.

Abulgasim strongly denied to Radio Dabanga that his presence in Juba has anything to do with preparations for military action. He said this claim was invented by the government.

He said that the Sudan Liberation Movement is looking for a just and comprehensive peace, and called on the government instead of telling lies and making accusations to meet all the just demands of the people of Darfur.
