Residents are detained by militia, beaten and shaved of hair, according to camp leaderThe displaced people in camps in Seraf Omra complained of repeated attacks which are carried out by the Central Reserve Forces, known locally as ‘Abu Tira’, on the displaced people inside camps and on routes.

A leading figure from one of the camps told Radio Dabanga that members of Abu Tira arrest and beat any person they find outside his or her house after nine in the evening and lead the displaced people to the headquarters of Abu Tira. They usually release the detainee on the following day, after shaving his head. The camp leader stated that, besides this, the Abu Tira abuse women in farms and wood-gathering areas.
