18 killed, 36 wounded in Nuba Mountains bombing: SPLM-K

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) in South Kordofan announced that the National Congress Party (NCP) violated the Addis Ababa on the day after it was signed by launching air attacks.  A statement released by the media counselor of the SPLM chairman in South Kordofan said that Antonov planes carried out fourteen bombing runs on Wednesday morning, targeting the villages of Alahmeir, Abu Hashim, Koroji, Um Sirdaba, Alhamra, Elatmor and Alabo. Eye witnesses told Radio Dabanga that eight civilians were killed and 36 others were wounded in an airstrike launched by the army on Tuesday and one eye witness said that the attacks of the Armed Forces in the areas of Koroji and Tibla in Um Durwain and Baram and Silara, rural areas of El Delenj were repeated. The witness also stated that the airstrike on Tibla led to the killing of an elderly woman and the wounding of four with critical injuries. The witness also revealed that the main market of the area, Daimana market, was completely destroyed.

The witness also revealed that the main market of the area, Daimana market, was completely destroyed.The NCP and SPLM-North had signed on an agreement on Tuesday in Addis Ababa that called for a halt in aggressive and violent operations in South Kordofan and the recognition of the SPLM as a legitimate political party in the North, as well as discussion of new constitutional arrangements at a national level and new negotiations on security and political arrangements in Blue Nile and South Kordofan with immediate discussion of a cease-fire. The two sides in their agreement, which was mediated by the head of the African Union (AU) Thabo Mbeki, agreed for a political partnership between them in the two states and extending the procedures of the popular consultations till after the ninth of July. The two also agreed to form a joint committee to discuss national issues to enhance citizenship, democracy and recognition of diversity and defining relations between the capital and states and keeping good relations with South Sudan, in addition to agreeing that Sudan should have one national army into which the SPLM forces in Blue Nile and Southern Kordofan should integrate.
