Primary School for 800 children in old Zamzam Camp burns to ground

A fire broke out yesterday in old Zamzam camp leading to the injury of Jalal Nimeri Idriss and Fatima Jaba Alla, with the two sustaining severe burns in the fire. The blaze also completely consumed a primary school of eight classes, three offices and a restroom.

The blaze also completely consumed a primary school of eight classes, three offices and a restroom. A witness told Radio Dabanga that the fire started at exactly twelve in the evening. Jalal, a member of the teachers’ council in the school, and Fatima sustained burns during their attempts to put out the fire. The witness also said that the two were given first aid by the UNAMID forces and that the burnt school used to take up to 800 students.
