A number of youth in Ed Daein, capital of East Darfur, demonstrated in front of the state's legislative council in protest against the security apparatus on Thursday. They accused them of the harassment and sexual exploitation of girls.

The protesters' memorandum demands the closure of the security service's hostel adjacent to the high school fir girls in El Arab, downtown Ed Daein. One of the protest organisers told Radio Dabanga that they handed over the memorandum to the speaker of the legislative council.

“One month ago, youth accused members of the security service of taking a schoolgirl into their hostel,” a resident in El Arab said. The security service has refused to settle the case with a native committee. “The youth then reported the incident to the police.”
