Young volunteers mobilise to clean North Darfur locality

The youth of the Al Sareif Beni Hussein locality in North Darfur have complained of the environmental degradation, lack of drinking water and the outbreak of jaundice.Mohamed Ibrahim, deputy chairman of youth mobilisation in the locality, told Radio Dabanga that the young people of the area have begun a volunteer programme called “The Mobilisation of Al Sareif Beni Hussein locality’s youth”.“They clean up water resources and burn the remains of dead animals, however, they face financial supply problems,” Ibrahim explained.“Environmental degradation, contamination of water sources and the outbreak of jaundice are the main problems causing suffering among the locality’s population,” he said.Ibrahim highlighted that these issues need some effort on the part of the State of North Darfur. “We therefore appeal to the Governor to expedite the negotiation of a sustainable peace.
