‘Vehicles, ammo captured, 46 SAF troops killed in Darfur’: Rebels

The Sudan Liberation Army – Minni Minawi (SLA-MM) claims to have killed 46 government troops in a battle in the Tor Taan region in South Darfur on Monday. Speaking to Radio Dabanga from the field SLA-MM spokesman Adam Saleh Abkar said that it has captured 24 vehicles in good condition and various types of ammunition and rocket launchers. This is in addition to the 80 fuel tankers the SLA-MM claim to have captured, as reported previously by Radio Dabanga. Abkar said that the SLA-MM fought alongside a contingent from the Sudan Liberation Army – Abdel Wahid (SLA-AW). Two Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) Majors and a Lieutenant are among the dead. Abkar claims that the SAF had the support of Central Reserve Forces (known as Abu Tira). File photoRelated: SLA-MM ‘capture fuel convoy bound for Nyala’ in Darfur (3 June 2013)
