UXO blast kills two East Darfur children; four injured

Two children died and four others were injured in the eastern district of El Riyadh administrative unit in East Darfur, when an item of unexploded ordnance (UXO) exploded on Tuesday.

Two children died and four others were injured in the eastern district of El Riyadh administrative unit in East Darfur, when an item of unexploded ordnance (UXO) exploded on Tuesday.

A witness said that the children – all from one family – found a bomb and started to play with it. It detonated, killing Abdelkarim Ahmed Mahdi and Jeddah Ahmed Mahdi, injured Subahi Ahmed Mahdi, Arafa Ahmed Mahdi, Mecca Ahmed Mahdi and Zahra Sharif Hasabulkarim.

The injured were taken to hospital Ed Daein for treatment.

Militia attacks

Militiamen opened fire and seriously wounded farmer Ibrahim Ali Abakar and Abdullah Abakar Abdullah at Mole area south of El Geneina in West Darfur on Tuesday.

Speaking to Radio Dabanga from El Geneina hospital, Ibrahim Ali Abakar told Radio Dabanga that one of the militia members wearing military uniform opened fire on him and four other members of his family when they were working on their farm.

He and Abdullah Abakar Abdullah were seriously injured.

A paramilitary group seriously wounded a member of the Popular Defence Forces and seized the weapon in his possession in Tawila in North Darfur.

Omda Mukhtar Bosh told Radio Dabanga on Wednesday that eight paramilitaries in a Land Cruiser opened fire on a member of the PDF who was guarding water wells at Um Burma area, seven kilometres east of Tawila and seriously wounded him.

He was transferred to El Fasher for treatment.
