UNAMID supports elections with police training

The United Nations African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) said yesterday that the elections are an essential step in the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement between North and South, with Darfur being considered part of northern Sudan. According to UNAMID Spokesman Noureddine Mezni, the peacekeepers have trained more than ten thousand police officers in the states of Darfur in order to secure the elections.
