UN Coordinator commemorates death of Red Crescent volunteer

The UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, Ali Al Za’tari issued a statement on the death of a volunteer with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society in South Kordofan. The Sudanese Red Crescent Society volunteer was killed by a land mine near the town of Abu Jubaiha in South Kordofan late last week. At least four citizens were killed too. Many others, including Red Crescent volunteers, were critically injured by the explosion.      “The humanitarian community in Sudan extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of those killed and injured by this land mine blast,” Al Za’tari said.
