A number of Um Baru notables were robbed in North Darfur on Saturday.

The delegation of Um Baru notables was ambushed and robbed by a group of militiamen in the area of Kafout.

Speaking from Khartoum, Mohamed Minawi, federal MP for Um Baru, Karnoi, and El Tina constituencies, told Radio Dabanga that “they robbed the passengers at gunpoint. The driver, who dared to protest, was injured.”

Minawi explained that the Um Baru notables were returning from the North Darfur state capital of El Fasher, where they had attended a meeting with the Second Vice-President, Hasabo Mohamed.
