Two Sudanese aid workers freed, American still held: official

Kidnappers in Darfur freed two Sudanese employees of the humanitarian organization Samaritan’s Purse, a top official said yesterday. The aid workers were captured on Monday near Nyala. Sudan’s state minister for humanitarian affairs, Abdel Bagi Jaylani, told the US government-funded Sudan Radio Service that the two Sudanese were freed while the American is still being detained. Abdel Bagi commented: “Now we have some connections and information that we can’t talk about now. But we expected this to happen and we warned all NGOs that they should limit the movement of these foreigners in Darfur, because they are being targeted by the road blocks because of money. We warned them, but they refused to listen and they went out where there is a tribal conflict, without any protection.  And this is the result. But soon you may get good news.”
