Two more children die in Central Darfur refugee camp

The death toll in Um Shalaya camp for Chadian refugees in Central Darfur has risen from six to eight. Wardi Bahreldin, the representative of the Chadian refugees in Darfur, reported to Radio Dabanga that two girls died in Um Shalaya’s health centre on Wednesday morning. “One of them was my daughter, Omaima Wardi. Like the other patients, she was suffering from high fever, diarrhoea, vomiting, convulsions, and bleeding from the mouth and nose.” Health authorities in the camp acknowledged the spread of malaria, diarrhoea, dry cough, respiratory infections, and malnutrition among the refugees.
