Two women were gang-raped in separate incidents in the area of Tabit, Tawila locality, North Darfur, today.

A group of gunmen seized a 19-year-old woman as she tended her farm in the area of Jabayen, west of Tabit, this (Monday) afternoon at gunpoint, and alternately raped her, her neighbour reported to Radio Dabanga.

She added that another woman was gang-raped by militiamen south of Tabit.

The relatives of the victims lodged a complaint at the police of Tabit. They also visited the office of the security committee of Tawila locality, and spoke to the Commissioner of Tawila, Adam Yagoub, she said. “Yet, none of them moved to persecute the perpetrators.”
