Three Sudanese youths detained in Khartoum

Youths in Shambat, Khartoum North, denounced the continued detention of three young men from their district. In a statement issued by the “Shambat youth”, they demand the detainees to be released or brought to trial.   A relative of one of the detainees told Radio Dabanga that security forces raided a house in Shambat, Khartoum North on Friday 30 November in a vehicle mounted with heavy weapons. At the time, there was a meeting in the house of the Committee for the slain in Shambat during the September demonstrations, discussing projects for the sake of the victims. The security forces arrested eight young people: Omar Abdelghaffar, Shamseldin Haj Ahmed, Arafat Jamaleldin, Tarig El Sheikh, Omar Hassan El Badawi, Ahmed Hashim, Yasir Dawoud, and Muhajir. Five of them were released, but Arafat Jamaleldin, Tarig El Sheikh, and Shamseldin Haj Ahmed are still being held. Their families of the detainees fear that they are being mistreated and tortured.
