Citizens in the city of Nyala and in camps like Kalma are suffering from severe thirst because of a water crisis. The situation is attributed to a decrease in the number of water sources, which pushed up prices to one pound per cup of water in Nyala. Another factor is the continuous break-down of the water pipes. One of the displaced people in Dereig camp in Nyala said that the water crisis has led to the miscarriage of many women who have walk long distances to fetch water, which they carry on their heads.
