Sudanese soldier’s death in East Darfur leads to ‘chaos’

A Sudanese army soldier was shot dead in Yassin locality, East Darfur, on Wednesday. On Wednesday evening, a gunman stormed a club in Bir Yassin, where people had gathered to watch a football match. He fired at an army soldier, and killed him instantly. The incident led to condemnations and protests from the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF), as well as chaos in the area. Soldiers wreaked havoc in the area, and torched shops and stalls at the market of Bir Yassin, and restaurants, shops, and other buildings in the area, Abdel Jabbar Abdallah, Sudanese parliament member for Yassin constituency, told Radio Dabanga. “On Thursday morning, the chairman of the Security and Defence Council, presented a report of the incident to the parliament.
