Sudanese military plane crash kills 15

A Sudanese military plane crashed outside of Khartoum on Sunday October 7. The Sudanese army’s spokesman confirmed that 15 of the passengers were killed and 7 injured as the Antonov plane crashed 40 kilometers west of Omdurman. The military transport plane was on its way to El-Fasher, Sudanese army spokesman Al-Sawarmi Khaled Saad said. The plane was carrying personnel and military equipment, he added. Al-Sawarmi confirmed the death of 15 and the evacuation of injured victims to a hospital for treatment. He disclosed that the crash was caused by a technical failure. The Sudanese News Agency (SUNA) reported that 13 people died initially and nine were injured in the crash. Two died as a result of their injuries, raising the number of fatal victims to 15. According to SUNA, the Sudanese army has formed a committee to investigate the ‘reasons for the recurring accidents with Antonov planes’.
