Sudanese journalist Wael El Hasan has been released after a day in detention. El Hasan was arrested following a media vigil at the Omdurman Television Station.

He was arrested on Wednesday and held in buildings belonging to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). El Hasan wrote about his release on Facebook himself. He has been arrested by the regime before.

In February, security forces besieged the Ministry of Information before members of the Sudanese Media Association could hold a protest march. They arrested a number of journalists including El Hasan, Abubakr Abdeen, and Aziza Awadelkarim.
