Sudan ministry launches anti-measles campaign in Darfur

The Ministry of Health of the Government of National Unity announced the start of a campaign to eliminate measles in the states of Darfur starting Saturday. The effort would last for six days.

The Ministry of Health of the Government of National Unity announced the start of a campaign to eliminate measles in the states of Darfur starting Saturday. The effort would last for six days. The campaign aims to vaccinate 427.601 children ranging from the ages of nine months to five years. Anti-polio serums will also be given to 960.492 children with ages ranging from new-borns to five years in all the districts of West Darfur.

The ministry stated that the campaign also targets nine districts in the state of South Darfur and five districts in North Darfur and called on the armed factions in Darfur to cooperate to ease movements for the vaccination teams to be able to reach all the children in the states of Darfur.
