Sudan: Bread shortage in Kassala, no petrol in West Darfur

The town of Kassala in eastern Sudan is facing a severe shortage of bread. In El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur, petrol stations are closed, owing to a lack of fuel. “Most of the bakeries in Kassala town have shut their doors, since the authorities reduced the bakeries’ daily ration of floor from 20 [100 kg] sacks to five sacks,” a baker reported to Radio Dabanga. Petrol crisis “Petrol stations in the town are closed, as they are empty,” pump worker Feisal Ali told Radio Dabanga from El Geneina.  “The price for a gallon of petrol at the black market has risen from SDG40 ($7) to SDG75 ($13),” he noted.
